The city-parish Planning Commission today will take up a request to rezone the former McAlister’s Deli building at 7242 Perkins Road from light commercial to a space that can function as a restaurant serving alcohol beverages.

TSSR Properties, a company represented by Donnie Jarreau, Hank Saurage IV and Edward L. Rotenberg, purchased the building late last month for $1.4 million.

Jarreau previously told Daily Report the deal was a “speculative” purchase in response to interest by national and regional restaurants in the Baton Rouge market.

McAlister’s Deli closed its Perkins Road location in December after its lease expired.

Also on the agenda is a proposed revision to the Settlement at Willow Grove concept plan. Developer Richard Carmouche wants to revise the existing concept plan to increase nonresidential square footage to 39,173.

The Settlement at Willow Grove is a mixed-used development on Perkins Road between Bluebonnet Boulevard and Siegen Lane.

The planning commission will convene its meeting at 5 p.m. on the ninth floor of City Hall, 222 St. Louis St. See the full agenda.
