Joe Alleva, LSU athletic director and vice chancellor, is being looked at for the athletic director’s job at Tennessee, according to published reports and social media. LSU Chancellor Michael Martin is reportedly returning to Baton Rouge from New Mexico to deal with the matter. An ESPN radio host in Knoxville, Tenn., is saying that Alleva has reached an agreement with Tennessee and a deal would be announced this week. Alleva has been at LSU since 2008. Before that, he spent 10 years at Duke. During his tenure with the Tigers, he arranged the hiring of men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson, women’s basketball coach Nikki Caldwell and softball coach Beth Torina. Alleva also arranged a contract extension with football coach Les Miles to keep him in Baton Rouge after Michigan showed interest. Alleva was also involved in the planning of Bayou Country Superfest, the two-day country music festival held in Tiger Stadium over Memorial Day weekend.
