LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu and running back Spencer Ware have been suspended for Saturday’s home game against Auburn, according to reports by ESPN.com and The Daily Reveille. The Associated Press reports that defensive back Tharold Simon also has been suspended. The Daily Reveille, quoting an anonymous source, says that Mathieu and Ware each failed a drug test, and that the suspensions could include multiple games. Mathieu has forced four fumbles, recovering three and returning two for scores. He also has two interceptions and 42 tackles, including 1˝ sacks. Ware is the leading rusher for the unbeaten Tigers, with 512 yards and six touchdowns. Simon has one interception and 29 tackles. LSU, ranked No. 1 in the season’s first BCS poll, plays host to Auburn in a 2:30 p.m. game that will be televised by CBS; a victory would set up a showdown with No. 2 Alabama on Nov. 5 in Tuscaloosa.
