Regions Bank has taken over FirstBank Financial Services and assumed about $285 million in deposits from the Georgia bank. Regions was named as receiver of FirstBank on Friday, after the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance turned the bank over to the FDIC. FirstBank has four branches in metro Atlanta, which have been rebranded as Regions locations. This is the second time in five months Regions has taken over a failed Georgia bank; it acquired Integrity Bank in August.
