Red Stick CrossFit is opening a third location in downtown Baton Rouge at the corner of N. 6th and Main streets.
Ashley Fairley, part owner of Red Stick CrossFit-South on Anselmo Lane, says the downtown location will officially open on Oct. 15. It’s also hoped that a soft opening will take place on Oct. 1, but there have been delays related to last month’s flooding, she says.
Red Stick CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program designed to help clients reach a high fitness level. Fairley says clients range in age from children to people in their late 70s. Classes tend to consist of 12 to 15 members, but the coaching is geared toward a person’s individual ability, she says.
The first Red Stick CrossFit location opened in Mid City on Government Street, Fairley says.
“It’s grown tremendously. We’ve almost outgrown the space,” she says.
Fairley says Red Stick CrossFit’s partners have been watching downtown for a while. It’s an attractive location partly because of the growth of the farmers market, residences, and corporations, she says.
“We really thought it was an opportunity to expand into the community,” she says.
The YMCA and Anytime Fitness have locations downtown, but Fairley says Red Stick CrossFit offers a more personalized experience.
