Red River Bank’s local market president, Joanie Netterville Montelaro, has announced her retirement after more than four years at the helm of the Alexandria-based bank. Montelaro says the decision to step down was difficult but that she wants to devote more time to her children, ages eight and 12, and her mother.
“This was certainly not an easy decision as the past 4 1/2 years have truly been transformational for our team as well as for me personally,” Montelaro says. “I have reached the season in my personal life where I want and need to be there more for my family. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity now.”
Montelaro came to Red River Bank from Fidelity Bank, which was acquired by Red River in 2013. In the two years since the acquisition, Red River has more than doubled its assets and increased its number of branches statewide to 20, Montelaro says. Five branches are in the Capital Region, not including a sixth location currently under construction at the corner of South Acadian Thruway and Perkins Road.
There’s no word yet on who will succeed Montelaro, whose last day is May 15. The bank says it is finalizing plans for an interim market president.
