Tommy Spinosa III, son of developer J.T. “Tommy” Spinosa, relocated to Atlanta about two weeks ago after accepting a position with a private equity group, but says he’ll be traveling back and forth to Baton Rouge to continue overseeing the development of Rouzan. “This was just a really great opportunity for me to get into a bigger market with some bigger players, and really get some more contacts for JTS and myself in the long term,” Spinosa III says. “Things at Rouzan are moving along, and honestly, I think I’ll be able to do more for my dad and his developments from here in Atlanta than I can for him in Baton Rouge.” Spinosa III is a graduate of the University of Georgia, and he moved to Baton Rouge from Atlanta in 2008 to join his father’s firm. The elder Spinosa says his son’s move does not change anything at Rouzan, a traditional neighborhood development off Perkins Road that has seen its share of opposition from some neighbors in Southdowns. “He’s still the manager of the Rouzan project, and it’s still under his control,” Tommy Spinosa says. “And I’m still the manager of 2590 (Associates LLC), the owner of the land, but I’m not involved in the day-to-day management of Rouzan.” Read the rest of this story and all of the new Real Estate Weekly e-newsletter here. —Steve Sanoski
