‘Real Estate Weekly’: Second filing of Hoo Shoo Too Lakes PUD planned

DSLD Homes is planning a second filing for its Hoo Shoo Too Lakes subdivision. The Denham Springs-headquartered homebuilder has filed an application with the Planning Commission for a planned use development consisting of 41 low-density, single-family homes on a 15-acre site that is adjacent to the first filing of development at Hoo Shoo Too Road and Savannah Jane Lane. The company is currently in the process of acquiring the property from Dick Brien, who is selling the back portion of his 22-acre tract, which is sandwiched between the first filing of Hoo Shoo Too Lakes and Mallard Crossing. Brien says DSLD is building the new homes behind his personal property and that they will connect to the first filing. Though Brien would not disclose the agreed-upon price for the property, his original asking price for a 15-acre parcel was $25,000 per acre. DSLD and other large homebuilders, like D.R. Horton, have carved out for themselves an increasingly successful niche building starter homes in the under $200,000 segment of the market.
