Business Report Publisher Rolfe McCollister says Gov. Bobby Jindal showed the third time is a charm, after two previous reform governors—Dave Treen and Buddy Roemer—were limited to one term by voters. “Louisiana has often flinched after feeling the pain of change—and a tough economy forcing budget cuts—and given up early on reform efforts. But not this time. Louisiana voters made history by re-electing a reformer, Gov. Bobby Jindal, in a landslide victory that saw him win support from two out of every three voters. Jindal won every parish,” McCollister says. Voters gave Jindal and the reform agenda a historic victory on Oct. 22, which McCollister says was “a bright day for our state, in contrast to that 1991 runoff (Edwin Edwards and David Duke).” McCollister also endorses Chas Roemer (District 6) and Carolyn Hill (District 8) for the BESE elections, which he says are key in keeping “bold education reforms moving forward for the next four years. The parents and children are counting on success, and we cannot fail them.” In his column, McCollister also applauds the first Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week, beginning Nov. 11.
