LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva says a proposal to expand Tiger Stadium will be heard by the LSU Board of Supervisors on April 27. About 60 suites and approximately 3,000 club seats are proposed to be built above the existing south end zone seats in the stadium. The proposal also calls for about 1,500 new general seats above the proposed suites and club seating. Altogether, the expansion would raise the capacity of Tiger Stadium to about 100,000, from the current 92,542. The Tiger Athletic Foundation, the fundraising arm of LSU sports, is seeking a $100 million bond issue to fund the expansion along with improvements to tennis and gymnastics facilities. If approved by the Board of Supervisors, construction on the stadium expansion will begin this fall, with completion scheduled for the summer of 2014. The south end zone video board currently sitting atop the south bowl of the stadium will be removed prior to the 2013 season and be replaced with two video boards in the southwest and southeast corners of the stadium when the expansion opens for the 2014 football season.
