Mayor Kip Holden has apparently decided to wait until October or November to put a public safety and infrastructure bond issue on the ballot. While Holden had discussed putting the issue on the April 30 ballot, officials say they decided to postpone the vote in order to spend more time talking to Metro Council members. The bond issue will seek funding for a new East Baton Rouge Parish prison, a new juvenile justice center and other infrastructure items. Holden has twice tried to get bond issues passed, which included downtown development projects along with the public safety component. But both times, the measures were defeated.
