The deadline to apply for the open position of Baton Rouge police chief is less than two weeks away, and so far three people have applied for the job, according to published reports. Some Metro Council members say they are surprised at the small number of applicants and hope more people apply by Feb. 3. Councilman Joel Boe says the process should be extended if no more than three people have applied by the deadline. The last time the city looked for a police chief, in 2007, 48 people applied to take the civil service test for the job.
