Poll: Should La. tourism marketing tie into ‘Swamp People’?

Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne has awarded contracts to four advertising and marketing firms to promote Louisiana’s bicentennial and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. The companies who were awarded the contracts are: Trumpet of New Orleans, which will manage a $3.4 million contract creating marketing and brand identity; Deveney Communications of New Orleans and Williams Creative Group Inc. of Shreveport, which will each handle a $200,000 public relations contract; and Miles Media of Sarasota, Fla., which will handle a $1 million Internet marketing contract. The marketing campaigns could involve advertising on the History Channel, to tie into Swamp People. Dardenne has said he wants to take advantage of Swamp People, which is the most-watched show on the History Channel.
