Point of Care Health Group announced today that it will break ground on two additional Baton Rouge clinics.
Construction will start soon on a clinic in the Towne Center/Bocage area, the health group announced in a news release. The other clinic will be constructed in the Sherwood Forest/Coursey Boulevard area.
“Our goal is to deliver health care to your front door,” Dr. Rubin Patel, co-CEO and chief medical officer of Point of Care, says in a statement.
Today’s announcement comes barely two months after Point of Care Health Group opened a clinic in Mid City. The clinic, located at 2840 Florida Blvd., provides treatments for common injuries and illnesses.
In a previous statement, Patel said he and his co-CEO, Vishal Vasanji, saw an opportunity to provide services to Mid City and understood the void left in the community following the closure of an emergency room at Baton Rouge General Medical Center.
Point of Care Health Group’s new clinic will be constructed at 7353 Jefferson Highway, next to City Pork. It is tentatively set to open in early winter 2016.
The Sherwood Forest/Coursey Boulevard location is scheduled for launch at a recently announced retail center coming to 4333 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. The clinic will be located between The Londoner Grill and South of Philly. It is set to open late 2016 or early 2017.
Another clinic is being planned for south Baton Rouge. The company’s strategic plan is to grow rapidly in and around the Baton Rouge area, Vasanji says in the statement.
The planned south Baton Rouge clinic has a target opening date of late spring 2017. According to the statement, each location will measure roughly 3,200 square feet and have exam rooms, a lab, X-ray capabilities and a small retail area for common medical supplies.
A range of services will be offered, including EKG, X-ray testing, drug and urine testing, physicals and wellness exams, among others.
