The Baton Rouge Area Chamber has bestowed its Project of the Year award to Pod Pack, which in May of last year announced it will invest more than $10 million over the next three years to build a new headquarters facility in Baton Rouge.
The 17-year-old company, which moved to Baton Rouge from New Orleans in 2000, is expected to nearly double its staff with the project and generate $600,000 in new payroll, BRAC says. Pod Pack has not yet announced where in Baton Rouge it intends to build the new facility. The company produces individually portioned packets of coffee and tea for use in hotels, offices and restaurants.
Pod Pack was among a number of local companies and business professionals honored by BRAC at its annual shareholder meeting, held at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel. Other award winners include:
- Volunteer of the Year: Pamela Bounds, Berente Companies
- D. Jensen Holliday Award (for extraordinary leadership and exemplary service to BRAC): Patricia “Patty” McMurray, Adams and Reese
- Community Champion Award: Ben Miller Jr., co-founder of Kean Miller (posthumously awarded)
