Having outgrown its current location in Plaquemine, Essential Federal Credit Union says it’s moving its back-office operation center to 2370 Towne Center Blvd. in Baton Rouge during the second quarter of next year.
Essential President and CEO Rick Williams says the move is needed due to increases in employees and assets, which are now valued at more than $325 million, over the past few years. The Baton Rouge move also allows the credit union to further grow and expand, he says.
“These advancements have allowed us to serve more members, increase employment opportunities and give back more to the community,” he says in a prepared statement. “The operation center’s relocation to Baton Rouge will provide us with more room for our employees to operate and allow for even more growth opportunities in the future.”
Founded in 1972 by a small group of Dow Chemical employees, Essential Federal Credit Union has five locations in Plaquemine, Baton Rouge, Walker, Central and Gonzales. It has approximately 120 employees and more than 27,000 members in the nine-parish Capital Region.
The new back-office operation center will house the company’s executive management team, a call center, mortgage department, card services, accounting, eServices, human resources & training, indirect lending department, collections, information Technology, marketing and its commercial department. The Plaquemine branch will remain open following the move.
