The search to replace East Baton Rouge Parish Planning Director Frank Duke, who resigned more than six months ago, is set to begin in a couple of weeks.
A seven-member working group, which formed last month in order to create a process to replace Duke, met downtown this afternoon to discuss the selection process, focusing specifically on human resource’s role in the process as well as revisions to the existing job description.
“We’d like to be able to move forward with posting the position following our next meeting, which is scheduled for two weeks from today,” Planning Commission chairman Rossie Washington Jr. says in a text message.
Where the job opening will be posted will also be determined at the group’s next meeting, Washington says.
While it’s not immediately clear how long the group expects the selection process to take, they hope to have a new director in place by the start of 2021.
Besides Washington, the working group includes Planning Commission members Cliff Grout, Donna Collins-Lewis and Kelvin Hill; Erik Piazza of the Growth Coalition; Ed Lagucki of the Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Civic Associations; and Carey Chauvin, city-parish director of development.
