The team that drafted the master plan to boost economic development along the Florida Boulevard corridor will present the plan at Monday night’s Planning Commission meeting.
The master plan addresses transportation, land use, urban design and community development for the 12-mile stretch of roadway along Florida.
The Cortana Corridor Economic District is administering the plan in cooperation with Build Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Metro Council member Cleve Dunn Jr.
The plan includes six neighborhood centers designated as I-110 Stitch, Mid City, Foster & Florida, Bon Carre, Cortana and Sherwood.
Other items being considered Monday include:
- A proposal to turn the former Rite Aide property at the corner of Jefferson Highway and Corporate Boulevard into a luxury pet hotel. Local attorney Tommy Pittenger is a franchisee for luxury pet hotel brand K9 Resorts and hopes to bring the brand’s first Louisiana location to Baton Rouge.
- A proposal to bring a Starbucks near the intersection of West Lee and Burbank drives. Asterrone LLC of Metairie, a group comprising the family of the late auto dealer Price LeBlanc, plans to build the coffee shop.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at City Hall. See the full agenda.
