A Kentucky-based development group is looking to build a new apartment complex off of North Ardenwood Drive near Baton Rouge Community College, according to a submitted site plan to be considered at tonight’s Planning Commission meeting.

The apartments would be built by LDG Development, a Kentucky development group that has built three other complexes in Baton Rouge and is working on a fourth on the corner of Nicholson Drive and Gardere Lane.

The complex, located on N. Ardenwood, would have 216 units—24 one-bedroom units, 96 two-bedroom units and 96 three-bedroom units. There would also be a clubhouse.

The commission also will:

  • Consider Wayne Stabiler’s request to store vehicles for disaster response for his company Disaster Resource Group at the former Leo’s Rollerland and Iceland on North Airway Drive, which Stabiler bought in January.
  • Look at proposed changes to Northgate’s Urban Design Overlay, which includes removing all nonregulatory suggestions from the ordinance. The changes are a part of a larger effort to update all the city’s Urban Design Overlay districts.

If approved, Stabiler’s request and the changes to Northgate’s Urban Design Overlay will go before the Metro Council on July 18.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
