Pinnacle Entertainment will meet with state gaming officials Feb. 9 for a status report on the planned $250 million casino resort on River Road. “I don’t know what the problem is with Pinnacle, why they haven’t moved ahead,” says Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman H. Charles Gaudin. “The Pinnacle people are coming in from Las Vegas, we’re going to meet with them and I’ll know more after that date.”

“The project is still a go,” Pinnacle spokeswoman Pauline Yoshihashi says. The company is continuing to work the design. A groundbreaking date has not been set, but opening is tentatively slated for late 2010 or early 2011. The project was originally known as “Riviere,” but a name change is in the works.—David Jacobs
