Pinnacle Entertainment says it spent $1.6 million in the second quarter on the River Road casino resort it plans to build. That’s just about double what the company spent in pre-opening costs in the second quarter of 2008, right after East Baton Rouge voters approved plans for the casino. Pinnacle’s plans to build the resort have been delayed because of the tight credit markets. The company posted a $4.7 million profit in the second quarter, and its pre-tax earnings were up 27% over the second quarter of 2008 to $48.9 million. Quarterly revenues at Pinnacle’s L’Auberge du Lac resort in Lake Charles were down 4%, from $90.2 million in 2008 to nearly $86.6 million.
