The Pied Piper apartment complex at 4546 Alvin Dark Ave. in Tigerland has changed hands and will get a facelift.
Local businessman Holt Harrison, who owned the 39-unit complex for nearly 30 years, sold it Tuesday for $1.09 million to Ryan Bodin, a New Orleans-based real estate agent and investor. Harrison, who’s retired, says he was ready to sell the complex because he was getting tired of all the upkeep. Bodin says he plans to renovate and paint the complex and “make it look more modern.”
The sale of Pied Piper is the third in Tigerland since November, and comes amid a growing movement among property owners in the neighborhood to clean up and improve some of the older, run-down developments.
Last month, Alexandria native Don White, who already owns several apartment complexes in Tigerland, purchased the Camelot Apartments on Jim Taylor Drive and began renovating them. In November, a company managed by his son acquired Country Club II on Alvin Dark.
