Piccadilly Restaurants has signed a contract to provide meals to the students and faculty at Catholic High School. Under the agreement, Piccadilly will provide breakfast, lunch and after-school snacks for the more than 1,150 students, faculty and staff at the school. Gene Tullier, Catholic High board president, says the contract will mean lower meal costs for students. Before this, Catholic High had been doing its own food service. According to Tullier, Catholic High is currently the only school in Baton Rouge that has a contract for food service with Piccadilly. Just before Christmas, the tax-exempt corporation that supports Catholic High bought the Westmoreland Village Shopping Center, which has a Piccadilly. Tullier says there’s no direct connection between this and the new food-service agreement, other than the proximity of Westmoreland to the school campus. Catholic High is still determining the best long-term use for the Westmoreland property; Tullier says he hopes to make an announcement on the school’s plans for the site in the next six weeks. —Timothy Boone
