You’ve seen the pictures: A few people crammed in a booth. A dark curtain draped in the background. And a few frames in a row of funny faces, kissy faces, raised drinks, and hands making peace signs or other gestures. The photo booths that capture these silly moments are often found in malls, bars and fairs. But now a company which started in New Orleans is making them available in the Capital Region for weddings, parties and practically any other type of social event imaginable. The Boogie Booth Photo Booth Co. provides hats, glasses and props for photographs and hosts the digital pictures on its website on a public or private webpage. The brainchild of Andrew Mauldin of New Orleans, Boogie Booth is about two years old. About four months ago, Scott Hodgins of Baton Rouge partnered with his friend Mauldin and brought the concept to the Capital Region. Hodgins says Boogie Booths also are available as far away as Lafayette “for the right price.” Hodgins says he and Mauldin saw a slight uptick in business in December for Christmas parties, and says word-of-mouth has helped generate rentals. “We’ve fit 10, 12 people in the booth before,” Hodgins says. —Adam Pearson
