The Perlis family has purchased its namesake clothing store at 8633 Jefferson Highway for $2 million.

“We’ve always wanted to own our store there, and that was part our original lease agreement that we signed three and a half years ago, that we would have the option to buy the building,” says David G. Perlis Sr. “We came to the point of making that decision, and we decided that we are staying forever.”

Under a limited liability company called 8366 Jefferson, David W. Perlis Jr. and his sister, Michelle Perlis Patison, purchased the building from Anna W LLC, represented by Robert Casey, in a deal that closed today.

Perlis acquired the Cohn Turner clothing business that formerly operated in the Jefferson Highway building in November 2012 and rebranded it as a Perlis store in May 2013. Perlis Sr. says interior renovations were completed prior to the rebranding and there are no immediate plans for further upgrades or changes to the building.

“Our goal is to become a part of the Baton Rouge community in the same way that we’ve been a part of the New Orleans community for 76 years,” he says. “And it’s been a good store; we’re very happy with the growth there.”

Perlis, which sells clothing with a distinctive crawfish logo, has four locations including the Baton Rouge store; two of the others are in New Orleans and a third is in Mandeville.
