Tenants at Perkins Rowe say that the foreclosure filing against the shopping center and developer Tommy Spinosa should not have any impact on business. Although rumors of the pending litigation began last weekend, it has been business as usual.

Linda Perez Clark, co-owner of The Grape wine bar, says the development has been named in litigation before, but it has had no impact on business. “I think that people are very supportive of the development and its tenants,” she says. “It seems to be the nature of Baton Rouge residents to support business.”

Kiki Frayard, owner of high-end accessories and gift boutique kiki, believes the development will reach an agreement with lenders that will not impact tenants. Frayard hopes the publicity surrounding the filing doesn’t affect the number of shoppers.

“I think that customers today are savvy enough to know that all large developments can and do go through financial challenges,” she says. “I believe in the development, and my business has done well there.”—Emma James
