The Louisiana Workforce Commission has announced three new appointments, elevating people to the roles of deputy executive director, workforce development director and acting director of Second Injury Board.
As detailed in the Moving Up section of Business Report, Kenneth Burrell is now the deputy executive director of LWC. Burrell began his career as chief of staff to Judge Bernette Johnson and has also served as director of business development for Billes Architecture.
He became a member of the Black Organization for Leadership Development, taking part in a variety of activism organizations and serving on the board of directors for the Greater New Orleans Architecture, Construction and Engineering Mentoring Program.
Meanwhile, Shannon Joseph has taken on the role as the agency’s new director of the workforce development. She most recently served as a workforce development specialist supervisor with the LWC and successfully worked to bring the Medical Assistant Now program to the River Parishes. Joseph also developed a partnership with Delgado Community College to provide intensive services for veterans and their spouses.
Meridith Trahant, a licensed attorney, has been appointed acting director for the agency’s Second Injury Board. She’s been working with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration as an assistant attorney general.
