Researchers at Pennington Biomedical Research Center have found that obese people with type 2 diabetes had an improved quality of life after taking part in a weight management program. Dr. Donald A. Williamson and his colleagues found that the patients who were doing the worst at the onset of the one-year program showed the most improvement in their physical and mental well-being. Williamson and his team published their findings in the Archives of Internal Medicine this week. They plan to track the patients for up to 11 and a half years to see how their quality of life holds up.
