Louisiana voters seeking to understand the six state constitutional amendments on the Nov. 8 ballot can consult the Public Affair Research Council of Louisiana’s Guide to the 2016 Constitutional Amendments.

PAR released the online guide today. The roughly 20-page document provides a checklist for voters who must make decisions on how and whether to change the Louisiana Constitution.

The guide is meant to educate voters on the proposed amendments. PAR explains what a “yes” and “no” vote means for each amendment.

The nonpartisan organization also describes the circumstances surrounding the requested change, the nature of the change and arguments for and against each amendment.

The amendments on the ballot this year include: establishing new requirements for local registrars of voters; granting tuition and fee autonomy to college management boards; eliminating the federal income tax deduction for corporations on state tax returns; a property exemption for the surviving spouses of military, fire and law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty; creating a revenue stabilization trust fund; and adjusting the threshold for tapping protected funds.

PAR does not take a position on any of the amendments. Read the full guide.
