The state is just weeks away from a new King of Louisiana Seafood being crowned.
As 225 Dine reports, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board announced last week participants for the eighth annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off. The event will be held Saturday, May 23, at 4:30 p.m. at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans as part of the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. Doors open at 2 p.m.
Among the 10 competing chefs are two from Baton Rouge—David Dickensauge of Bin 77 and Scott Varnedoe of Restaurant IPO.
The winner of the competition will represent the state at the promotion and marketing board’s 12th annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off Saturday, Aug. 8, in New Orleans.
The other competing chefs are Ryan Gaudet of Spahr’s Seafood in Des Allemands; Dustie Latiolais of Crawfish Town USA in Henderson; Lyle Broussard of Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill in Lake Charles; Michael Brewer of The Sammich in New Orleans; Mike Nelson of GW Fins in New Orleans; Anthony Miletello of Willie’s Duck Diner and Miletello’s Sports City Grill in West Monroe; Anthony Felan of Wine Country Bistro in Shreveport; and Stephen Naegle Jr. of Spirits Food & Friends in Alexandria.
This year’s judges include 2013 King of Louisiana Seafood David Crews, Gautreau’s executive chef Sue Semanick, Louisiana Cookin’ Editor-in-Chief Daniel Schumacher and executive director of the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University Randolph Cheramie.
