Boutique fitness studio Open Barre closed Friday, ending a two-year run inside The High Grove, which is located in the rapidly growing traditional neighborhood development The Grove.
“We realize that this is sudden (and it’s sudden for us), but we have done everything we can and hope that we have impacted your lives as much as you have ours,” the business says in an emailed statement. “We are so happy to have served you for a fantastic two years and to have been such a big part of your lives.”
Attempts to reach Open Barre owner Maryam Diaab were unsuccessful.
Megan McNeill, marketing manager for The Domain Companies, which owns The High Grove, says in a statement that she is not sure why the business closed, but adds that it had been “open sporadically during the past year.”
The High Grove is a mixed-use development with 25,000 square feet of commercial space on the first floor and 192 residential units. The only current occupant in the commercial space is the Woodhouse Day Spa, which operates in 5,000 square feet.
McNeill says the company is looking to fill the Open Barre space with a café, and two businesses are in final discussions for two other open spaces in The High Grove. She declined to reveal the type of businesses in negotiations, but she says an announcement could come soon.
The Domain Companies is also working to lease 7,000 square feet of commercial space in The Addison, a mixed-use space in The Grove that will also contain 109 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 30 two-bedroom townhomes. Preleasing on the residential portion of The Addison will begin next month, and McNeill says the company hopes to let people begin to move in sometime this spring.
