As its September opening draws near, Our Lady of the Lake Livingston, off Interstate 12 in Walker, is completing work on its first phase. The $60 million, 170,000-square-foot structure with a 24-hour emergency room and support facilities is Livingston Parish’s first hospital. OLOL officials project 23,000 patients will utilize the facility overlooking a 20-acre lake in the first year alone. Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge treats about 17,000 patients from Livingston Parish annually. In addition to the emergency room, the new medical complex includes 90,000 square feet for primary care doctors and specialists—including ophthalmologists, pediatricians, cardiologists, orthopedists, ear/nose/throat doctors, and pain management specialists. Patients who are stabilized in the emergency room will be transported to a hospital with inpatient beds for continued care. In addition to putting the finishing touches on the facility, the hospital has also begun work on a turn lane on La. 447 to the entrance of the hospital. This is the first phase of construction for OLOL Livingston. The hospital has purchased a total of 236 acres at the site and plans significant expansion. This first phase is expected to create about 200 jobs, and applications are still being accepted.
