Hallmark Campus Communities, which bought a 6.25-acre tract of land on West McKinley Street last week for $3 million, plans to start building an apartment complex on the site by the first quarter of 2012. The goal is to open the complex by fall 2013, says Rick Kirk, CEO of Hallmark, which is based in Columbus, Ohio. Kirk says some details are still being worked out, like the number of units in the development. But he says it will be similar to an apartment complex near East Tennessee University. That complex has 192 units in three buildings and is a mix of furnished two-, three- and four-bedroom residences. “There will be three buildings in Baton Rouge as well,” Kirk says. —Timothy Boone
