Between the opening of NK Boutique’s third location and the closing of its online counterpart, evesapple.com, it’s been a summer of change for the 30-year-old local business. The upscale women’s clothing boutique opened at 17455 Perkins Road, near the Highland Road and Interstate 10 interchange, last month in the space that formerly housed Edit by LBP—another local boutique, which relocated to Acadian Village late last year. “We recognized that there’s a market at the Highland and I-10 area that was missing” shopping options, says Michele Percy, who co-owns NK with Sari Turner. “We even get a lot of New Orleans customers that drive in to shop,” she says. “We just recognized that it was a great opportunity.” Percy says NK closed down the Eve’s Apple website to focus all of its energy into the brick-and-mortar stores, but adds that the closure isn’t necessarily permanent. “It’s not like it’s forever gone,” she says. “It’s open-ended. We just kind of wanted to home in on servicing our local customers.” Looking forward, Percy says NK’s next move will likely be to expand its second location at 4469 Perkins Road, near College Drive, which opened last summer. NK also has a location at 7474 Corporate Blvd., near Jefferson Highway. NK’s move into the approximately 1,500-square-foot space at Perkins and Highland roads comes on the heels of two other business openings in the same shopping center, including The Grill’s opening in the former Galatoire’s location and Patti Dupree Furniture and Interiors’s opening in the former Cyrus Persian Rugs space. —Rachel Alexander
