A lifelong consultant, Nick Speyrer’s days consist of managing massive amounts of change for his clients. As the founder and president of Emergent Method, originally called Speyrer Consulting, he and his rapidly growing team work with corporate, nonprofit and government entities to develop strategic plans, manage transitions, craft custom communications techniques and conduct research for clients.

As Business Report details in its latest Entrepreneur feature, Speyrer spent the early part of his career in internal auditing with PricewaterhouseCoopers, ultimately transitioning into the accounting firm’s corporate change management practice. There, the LSU alum learned about employee and relationship management, and brought that experience back to Baton Rouge in August 2007.

After working for other local consulting firms and public entities, Speyrer set out in 2012 to put his knowledge to the test with his own consulting business specializing in innovation.

What was intended to be a one-man shop rapidly grew into a specialty operation filling a unique space in the Capital Region. With clients like Albemarle, Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport and The Water Institute of the Gulf, Speyrer and his ever-growing team seek to understand clients’ needs by bringing people together to let ideas emerge, creating multifaceted solutions.

“When we are at our best, we are able to go into an organization, facilitate conversations that would otherwise be difficult to have and have them come up with what they think is the best path forward,” Speyrer explains.

Since Speyrer hired his first employee in 2013, the growth of the company has only accelerated as he continues to assemble top talent in Baton Rouge for his team.

“I think the real draw is the opportunity to build something cool and unique,” Speyrer says of Emergent Method’s ability to attract a variety of experienced consultants.

As Emergent Method continues to grow, Speyrer is trying to figure out the best way forward with his sights set on regional, Gulf Coast expansion.

“The irony in it is that is the exact sort of stuff companies hire us to do,” Speyrer says.
