Yoga Bliss shutters studio, cites rent troubles

After 11 years, Yoga Bliss has closed its Highland Road studio after falling behind in its rent payments.

In late November, the studio announced that it was moving classes temporarily to Government Street and later teased on Dec. 1 that its new permanent location would be announced within 48 hours. Instead, the studio announced it was closing permanently.

“For a myriad of reasons over the last year, we fell behind on rent for our space on Highland Road,” Yoga Bliss founder Kim Matsko wrote in an Instagram post last month. It has been my most sincere pleasure serving and sharing yoga with the Baton Rouge community for the past 13 years. The friendships made and life changing moments witnessed in students will be forever etched in my heart.”

Matsko writes that while negotiating a solution, the lease was terminated. She was unable to be reached for more information before this morning’s deadline.

Founded in 2008, Yoga Bliss closed its Sherwood Forest studio in 2017.
