Debuts in the rankings: VooDoo BBQ & Grill made the Entrepreneur Magazine list of the top 500 franchises. Baton Rouge-based VooDoo was ranked 326th overall and finished 23rd on the list of top new franchises. The list is based on objective, quantifiable measures of a franchise operation, such as financial strength, growth rate and size of system. VooDoo has 12 locations across south Louisiana and is looking to expand nationwide.
No surprise here: LSU football fans were ranked as some of the worst sports fans in the country, according to GQ magazine. LSU fans were ranked 10th on the poll, for regularly yelling “Tiger Bait” at visiting fans and for an incident in 2005 when the Tennessee team bus sustained cracked windows after getting pelted by beer bottles. GQ attributes LSU’s ranking to the fact that night games in Death Valley allow for a full day of tailgate-based drinking. Several other groups of college fans made the list, including supporters of Duke basketball, Penn State football and West Virginia.
