Taking it to Tiger Town: Perkins Rowe announced today that it’s adding an upscale college sports apparel and merchandise retailer to its tenant mix. Knoxville, Tennessee-based Alumni Hall is set to open its first Louisiana store in the mixed-use development at Bluebonnet Boulevard and Perkins Rowe in April. Alumni Hall has 19 locations in nine states across the Southeast. Naturally, the Baton Rouge store will be Tiger-centric, says Alumni Hall President Jeff Goodfriend. “The LSU fan base is one of the most loyal out there, and we’ve wanted a Baton Rouge store for a long time,” he says in a prepared statement. “Perkins Rowe is a beautiful community with a perfect mix of shopping and dining options. It’s a great fit for us.”
On a roll: The Capital Area Transit System has officially launched one of three new routes in Baton Rouge. CATS says the Garden District Trolley began rolling today, and will run hourly on Saturdays and every half hour on weekdays. There is no service on Sunday. The Garden District Trolley is a circulator linking the neighborhoods of the Garden District to downtown. It’s one of three new routes that were approved by the Metro Council late last year. The two other routes are a new LSU Express Route and a Nicholson Limited Route. CATS has not yet announced when the other two routes will be operational.
Dialing it up: BREC announced today that it has begun offering public Wi-Fi at more than 30 facilities across East Baton Rouge Parish. The new service, called BREC Open, will allow park visitors three different options for getting online. A free basic package includes no download limits, but has slower speeds and is limited to two hours per day, per user. For $5 each, two premium packages are also available.
