Last chance: Today is the last day to purchase tickets for the 2016 MPAC party for $50. Tomorrow the price will increase to $65. Open for business: Gov. John Bel Edwards helped cut the ribbon on CGI Federal’s new CGI Onshore IT Delivery Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Tuesday. He also lauded the teamwork that went into bringing the Montreal-based company to Louisiana. The Advertiser reports CGI Federal—an information technology and business processing services company—moved into temporary headquarters in 2015 as construction began on its permanent Lafayette home. Employees, 40% of whom are UL graduates, moved into the building in February. The company will employ about 400 people and estimates that it will have an average annual economic impact of $93 million, with $929.8 million over the first decade. Read the full story.

Bigger paychecks: The Obama administration unveiled a new rule today that would make millions of middle-income workers eligible for overtime pay. The Washington Post reports the regulations, last updated a decade ago, would allow an additional 4.2 million full-time salaried employees earn overtime if they make up to $47,476 a year—more than double the current threshold of $23,660 a year. Roughly 35% of full-time salaried employees will be eligible for time and a half pay under the new rule, up from the 7% who qualify under the current threshold.
