Coming soon: Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery is set to break ground in Gonzales and could add more stores in Baton Rouge as the Tempe, Arizona-based chain looks to expand into Louisiana. The Gonzales location is expected to open in 2017 and could be followed by locations in other parts of the state, according to a news release. Mark Hanby, senior vice president of franchise development for Tilted Kilt, says in the release the company is scouting locations in Louisiana, including Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Alexandria, Ruston and West Monroe. Tilted Kilt has 95 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada and recently pushed to grow the company along the East Coast and in the Midwest. See the full release.

Wanted: The Southern University System has named a search committee to screen and recommend final candidates for the position of chancellor for Southern University at New Orleans, The Associated Press reports. The 17-member committee is made up of administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni and stakeholders. The search committee will assist in selecting a replacement for Victor Ukpolo, who steps down June 30. Lisa Mims-Devezin, dean of the SUNO College of Arts and Sciences, will serve as interim chancellor. The search team will be co-chaired by Charles Rice, CEO of Entergy New Orleans, and Gloria B. Moultrie, SUNO’s vice chancellor for community outreach and university advancement. The search committee’s first meeting will be held July 7.

New jobs: In a positive sign for a struggling oil patch, Broussard-based LQT Industries announced Tuesday contracts on three projects to fabricate and outfit modular buildings and specialty equipment for oil and gas operators, ABiz reports. According to a news release, the projects include construction of a steel blast-rated control building for a major petrochemical facility operated by an Asian engineering group, construction and outfitting of multiple modular living quarters for an offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico and fabrication of specialized equipment that will be utilized by a major offshore production company. The projects will be manufactured at the company’s fabrication facility in Abbeville. ABiz has the full story.
