Thriving: THRIVE Academy, a public boarding school for sixth- to ninth-graders, is breaking ground on its new 43,000-square-foot classroom and dormitory building at 2585 Brightside Drive on Thursday at 4 p.m. As previously reported, the dormitory is one of two planned on the site of the former Catholic Deaf Center, which THRIVE purchased from the Diocese of Baton Rouge in 2011 for about $1.2 million. THRIVE, which currently operates out of the Family and Youth Services Center on Government Street, anticipates relocating to the Brightside Drive location in August next year.
