Facing off: Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle and Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne—both Republicans—will be joined by Democratic Rep. John Bel Edwards at a governor’s candidate forum in Baton Rouge on Thursday hosted by AARP Louisiana, the Louisiana Association for Councils on Aging Directors and the Louisiana Aging Network. Sen. David Vitter is unable to attend, according to a news release. The focus of the forum will be issues affecting adults aged 50 and older, including health care and transportation. WAFB anchor Donna Britt will moderate the forum. The event begins at noon at the Marriott Hotel, 5500 Hilton Drive. AARP members and supporters of the councils have been invited to attend, but seating is limited and an RSVP is required. Register to attend.

Power in numbers: New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. this morning reported second-quarter net income of $153.7 million. On a per-share basis, the company reports profit of 83 cents. The Associated Press reports the results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.13 per share. The power company posted revenue of $2.71 billion in the period. Entergy expects full-year earnings in the range of $5.10 to $5.90 per share. Entergy shares have declined 19% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has risen nearly 2%. The stock has fallen 2.5% in the last 12 months.
