New place: Summit Electric Supply in Gonzales has moved into a new 65,500-square-foot service center that incorporates new designs the company plans for its facilities. According to a news release from the company, the new location at 3348 S. Burnside Ave. comprises a sales floor, office space and a 57,000-square-foot warehouse, which is about three times the size of the previous warehouse. The Albuquerque, New Mexico-based company is one of the world’s top electrical supply companies and has locations in five states, including other Louisiana offices in Houma, New Orleans, Sulphur and Broussard.
Groundbreaking: BREC will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for new amenities at its North Sherwood Forest Community Park. The park, located at 3140 North Sherwood Forest Drive at the site of the old Federal Sharp Station Depot during World War II, will get a new playground with a splash pad, as well as fitness stations, a tennis court, a virtual park, a half-mile walking loop and fishing piers on the pond. The ceremony is set for 9:30 a.m.
New jobs: About 300 construction jobs are expected to be created in northeast Louisiana as Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company LLC, a Kinder Morgan company, improves its natural gas pipeline system. The News Star in Monroe reports the Southwest Louisiana Supply Project is designed transport natural gas to the growing Southwest Louisiana market. At its peak, the $170 million project is expected to bring about $4.1 million in annual revenue to state and local taxing bodies. The News Star has the full story.
