Missing: Sleeper chairs. A mannequin training doll. Cattle. Millions of dollars in laptop and desktop computers. These are just some of the thousands of items that have been purchased by state agencies and subsequently lost, misplaced or otherwise unaccounted for in the last four years, WVUE Fox 8 reports. According to records obtained by the New Orleans TV station, as much as $16 million of property went missing in 2014 alone; that was up dramatically from $4.8 million in missing property in 2011 and $8.8 million in 2013. Help wanted helping hand: BREC launches a new software system next week that will let job seekers submit applications online, a change designed to streamline and improve the hiring process. The new process will be instituted in three phases, with those seeking jobs at Liberty Lagoon able to submit online applications first. In mid-March, BREC will offer the service to those interested in applying for other summer positions. In the fall, the agency will fully transition to online applications for available jobs. The new service comes after BREC partnered with NEOGOV, a national cloud software system.
