New additions: The Spine Hospital of Louisiana at the NeuroMedical Center is adding a new operating room, three pain management procedure rooms and 17 pre- and post-op rooms. The renovations, costing roughly $3 million, have already begun at the hospital, according to the construction permit. CEO Robert Blair says it is hoped to the renovations will be complete by early October. Currently, the demo phase is underway and some air conditioning parts have already been moved to make room for construction. The renovations at The Spine Hospital, located at Perkins Rowe, come after the NeuroMedical Center added some cutting-edge equipment, including a Toshiba Ultimax-i FPD Multipurpose System, earlier this year.

Starting to sizzle: Part of the former Bank One building at 7666 Jefferson Hwy. currently is being demolished to make way for a Stab’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant. Part of the 2,750-square-foot building is being torn down for the construction of a 6,853-square-foot restaurant and bar, according to a construction permit. The parking lot will also be reconfigured and new landscaping added. The project is estimated to cost about $3 million. This will be the second location for Wayne Stabiler’s high-end restaurant. The first location opened in 2013 in the Village at Magnolia Square in Central. Stabiler is a prominent restaurateur in Baton Rouge and owns both Little Village locations as well as the new Palermo Ristorante at 7809 Jefferson Hwy., about one block from the future Stab’s. Stabiler purchased the former bank for $1.4 million in March 2014.

Expanding: Dallas-based Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has partnered with Lake Charles-based Marshland Foods LLC to open eight new locations along the Interstate 10 corridor, including one in Baton Rouge. The first store will open in Lake Charles followed by two new stores opening in Beaumont, Texas, according to a press release. Marshland partner Robert Ray will operate the new restaurants. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has 139 location in Texas, including eight in Louisiana in Monroe, New Orleans, Lafayette, Lake Charles and Natchitoches. The company did not release details about where the Baton Rouge location will be located.
