Coming back to Baton Rouge: Lauren Songy has been named director of advertising and communications for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. Songy is a native of Baton Rouge and an LSU graduate, who has spent seven years in Atlanta working in the real estate industry.
No Louisiana locations affected: BancorpSouth says it will close or merge 23 underperforming branches in August, but none of the locations are in Louisiana. The Tupelo, Miss.-based bank, which has five locations in the Capital Region, says the decision to close branches came after an internal study aimed at streamlining operations. BancorpSouth has more than 300 banking, trust and insurance offices across eight states.
