Here’s the pitch: The Society for Emerging Networkers & Serial Entrepreneurs is taking applications for a special pitch night—at which entrepreneurs compete to give the best business or product pitch—to be held during Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week in November. Venture capitalists from around the country will be sitting on the panel of judges for the Nov. 17 event. Those interested can apply here. Entries are due by Friday, Oct. 28. It’s not easy being green: Louisiana is one of the bottom 10 states in the U.S. when it comes to energy efficiency, according to the annual 50-state energy efficiency scorecard created by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. The full scorecard and exact rankings will be released Thursday morning. More information about the ACEEE and its annual scorecard of the states is available at the council’s website here.

Lace ’em up: The Baton Rouge River Center will hold its annual Ice Skating on the River season from Dec. 16 through Jan. 2., with multiple skating sessions available daily. Skating tickets for a 90-minute session, including skate rental, small candy and soft drinks, are $12 and will go on sale Monday. Tickets may be purchased at the Baton Rouge River Center box office, any Ticketmaster outlet, online at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000.
