Hard out there for a shrimp: Louisiana’s Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced that fall shrimp season will close Friday in all state inside-waters east of the Mississippi River—except for the open waters of Breton and Chandeleur Sounds. The department says the closure provides an opportunity for the small white shrimp to reach larger, more valuable sizes.

Live, work, shop: Construction is expected to begin in March on the Fremaux Town Center in Slidell. Covington-based Stirling Properties and Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties Inc. plan to open the first round of stores by spring 2014. Developers say the plan is to focus initially on 80 acres of retail space with a long-term vision of adding office, residential or hotel components to fill in the whole 400-acre site. The companies say more than 70% of the space is already leased out to Dick’s Sporting Goods, Michaels, T.J. Maxx, Lane Bryant, Kohl’s, Ulta Beauty, Rack Room Shoes and Best Buy.
