Dismissed: Seven Caddo Commission members have been dismissed from a federal lawsuit filed to prevent removal of a Confederate monument outside the parish courthouse in Shreveport. U.S. District Judge Robert James, however, delayed ruling on whether he would block the statue’s removal. He’s expected to make that ruling in 30 days. The commission voted 7-5 for removal, but the United Daughters of the Confederacy sued, saying they own the land where the statue stands. They are seeking damages and to block the statue’s removal.
