New look, new feel: Regency Place Nursing & Rehab Center has reopened its newly remodeled facility at 14333 Old Hammond Highway, near Interstate 12. The skilled nursing center came under new management in late 2015 and has since renovated and enhanced its facility and services to patients. Patients have access to free Wi-Fi, a rehab-to-home wing with a sitting area and dining room in each private room, TVs with cable service, and a secure Memory Care Unit that has a specialized program for those living with Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related illnesses. Regency Place officially opened its doors on Friday, Feb. 17, and began accepting new admissions this week.

A remarkable life: Renowned conservationist Jane Goodall is scheduled to deliver a Tulane University lecture on her life’s work. The Associated Press reports the talk is planned for 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 at the Dixon Hall auditorium. A question-and-answer session and a book signing are also scheduled. Tulane says in a statement that Goodall is the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, which is marking its 40th anniversary this year. Goodall, 82, is known for her landmark study with wild chimpanzees in Tanzania, where she immersed herself in their habitat as neighbor rather than a distant observer.

In the courts: Another retailer is filing for bankruptcy protection. USA Today reports electronics retailer RadioShack has filed for its second bankruptcy in two years and will close about 200 of its remaining 1,500 stores. The Fort Worth, Texas-based company previously filed for bankruptcy in 2015, which resulted in about 2,400 store closings. Subsequently, General Wireless, a joint venture of hedge fund Standard General and communications firm Sprint, acquired the chain and ran 1,700 stores. In a Chapter 11 petition filed on Wednesday in the U.S Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, General Wireless stated it planned to close 187 stores by March 13 and eventually close roughly 365 additional stores, or transfer its ownership to Sprint. The remaining 1,000 stores will remain open and the company will continue evaluating options  during the bankruptcy process. RadioShack has three locations in the Baton Rouge area.
